Our mission

Our mission is to accelerate a sustainable energy future by delivering a full spectrum of reliable, cost-effective hydrogen-based products and solutions.

Our values

Our core values revolve around promoting people, sustainability, innovation, and integrity.

Our name

The name HyAxiom was created to reflect who we are, where we’re going, and how we’ll get there.

The moniker is a combination of two meaningful words – Hydrogen (our main focus and the subject of our expertise) and Axiom (self-evident). It’s the shortened version of the idea that we, as a company, take it as an axiomatic truth that hydrogen, the most abundant element in the universe, is critical to accelerating our journey toward a sustainable, reliable energy future.

Hydrogen
Axiom
HyAxiom

HyAxiom’s name reflects the truth behind the organization. We’re dedicated, motivated, and focused on leading the way to a carbon-free future.

Our story

It began with an engineering miracle

We helped put a man on the moon. It doesn’t get much more cutting-edge than that. At least, not in the 1960s when our fuel cells powered NASA’s Apollo missions.

As a division of the industrial giant United Technology Corporation (UTC), we also developed the first hydrogen-powered vehicles, commercialized the stationary fuel cell, and spent decades creating groundbreaking hydrogen fuel products.

In 2014, Doosan Group – a 125-year-old, energy-focused multinational South Korean industrial powerhouse – acquired UTC’s fuel cell business unit. Our name, HyAxiom, was created to reflect two rich legacies, UTC’s heritage of pioneering hydrogen fuel cell technology and Doosan’s engineering and large-scale manufacturing expertise.

Accelerating the charge

HyAxiom has since become an established market leader in the global hydrogen ecosystem, developing, manufacturing, and servicing clean, reliable hydrogen fuel cells and other innovative hydrogen solutions. We innovate constantly, upgrading and improving our existing products and services while actively developing our portfolio across the entire hydrogen ecosystem, including clean solutions for large land and maritime transportation applications and deploying one of the largest installed bases of stationary fuel cells worldwide.

Embracing the Future

HyAxiom is poised to do so much more than manufacture and service clean energy solutions in America. Our incredibly supportive relationship with Doosan means access to advanced engineering and mass manufacturing expertise, a global network, strategic partnerships, and strong government relationships in South Korea and beyond. Our affiliate and fellow member of Doosan Group, Doosan Fuel Cell Corporation, licenses, markets, distributes, and services our PAFC and other technologies in South Korea, extending our reach even further. And our own rigorous pursuit of what is next continues as we push the limits of what is possible, bringing us, everyone, closer every day to a net-zero carbon future.

A few HyAxiom firsts and highlights:
  • The first and largest direct hydrogen-powered fuel cell plant
  • The only models with interchangeable fuel sources (natural gas, LPG, and hydrogen)
  • The first multi-story fuel cell power plant in the U.S.
  • The largest natural gas fuel cell power plant, currently
  • The first and largest LPG fuel cell power plant, currently
Some quick facts about Doosan group
  • One of the largest global heavy machinery and equipment manufacturers
  • One of the most advanced nuclear power equipment makers
  • One of the few global large-scale gas turbine manufacturers
  • A leading on-shore/off-shore wind turbine and energy storage system manufacturer

Local impact

Clean, Quiet solutions make the best neighbors

No smoke. No noise. No pollutants. What more could you ask of the new kid on the block?

HyAxiom fuel cell solutions produce clean, safe energy. In fact, they’re so clean you may not need an air permit, even in urban environments, because of their low emissions and no hazardous byproducts.

Additionally, the Model 400s can be easily configured for carbon capture, allowing you to meet your sustainability goals today. And there’s more. HyAxiom technology integrates with waste heat recovery, remote monitoring, and with our system, you can not only eliminate water use but, in some cases, even generate water.

And because they have minimal moving parts, they make no noise. No grinding. No humming. Nothing.

All of this goes a long way to making us great neighbors in welcoming communities.

The team

HyAxiom isn’t just a company, it’s an organization of individuals with a grand shared vision and the passion to realize it. We believe the future is what we make of it and that future is bright and eminently achievable thanks to the knowledge, expertise, and wisdom of our team.
Together, we have generations of experience in engineering and hydrogen technology development. Doosan’s 125-year history of innovation and large-scale manufacturing expertise is the foundation on which we built our reputation. HyAxiom’s roots in engineering date back to the Apollo missions. And our current team is pushing the envelope even further every day. Cutting-edge design and implementation are not just what we do. It’s what we’ve done. For decades. And that’s what we’ll be doing in the years to come, until we achieve a carbon-free future.
